Sara and Molly with Molly Malone in Dublin's fair city
Molly and Molly Malone
Our lodging in Dublin was comfortable, friendly and convenient to Trinity College. The staff here were very nice and helpful.

We enjoyed a "sharing plate" of tapenade, hummus, olive, bread, etc. for our dinner
A cheese plate at the restaurant in Trinity City Hotel. We enjoyed their relaxed atmosphere.
Full Irish breakfast buffet at Trinity City Hotel allowed us to choose our favorites.
Photographs are not allowed in the exhibit of the Book of Kells. This image is from an iPad app about the Book. It is an amazing piece of work!
I was tickled to learn that cats and mice appear in the Book of Kells. In this image, two mice are playing tug-of-war with a Eucharist (!) while two cats watch (!!) and two mice sit on their backs (!!!)
The Long Room on the second floor of the Trinity College Library houses precious old volumes as well as other treasures of Irish history.

The "Brian Boru harp" is not actually old enough to date to the time of Brian Boru (d. 1014), first High King of Ireland. This Celtic harp dates to the 14th or 15th century and was the model for the symbol of Ireland as found on the Euro coin and also on the Guinness label.

Roberta thanks the young man who insisted that we include the Long Room in our visit to Trinity College. We did not realize what we would have missed, but he urged us to see both the Celtic harp and the 1916 Proclamation. Mother told him as we left, "I thank you. My parents thank you. And my grandparents thank you."

Roberta and Sara, on the plane back to America. It took us 7 hours and 40 minutes to reach Philadelphia, but when John C. Swift came over on the Great Western, the trip took seven and a half weeks.
